When you have Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Bing Crosby in the same movie you know it's going to be entertaining... and it is! Two sailors, one naive, the other experienced in the ways of the world, a musical set in Los Angeles. I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid watching it with my father, and it's just as good as I remember it then: plus it brings back some good memories since my father is no longer alive. The rest of the movie is just pure entertainment on a Saturday night. After the top gangster is killed at his birthday party, Guy Gisborne (Peter Falk) takes over the mob with the help of a corrupt cop but this doesn't sit well with Robbo (Frank Sinatra). As such, a gangland war ensues, with Robbo having among his men an Indiana pool hustler named Little John, and Will, a sharp shooter. The song Mr. Booze is particularly great. I am no longer buying movies anyhow. Together the eleven friends plan to rob five Las Vegas casinos in one night. Keep track of everything you watch; tell your friends. In Prohibition-era Chicago, the murder of mob boss Big Jim Stevens leaves a vacuum at the top. Much of the Old Globe's "Robin and the 7 Hoods," an adaptation of a clumsy 1964 movie musical, plays like a big fat hit. A great movie, but you need NTSC compatibility in a stand-alone DVD player to play it. In great condition, promptly delivered. I will watch it again, I am sure. Frank Sinatra,Dean Martin, Sammy Davis and Bing Crosby all excel in this light hearted Christmas musical and are superbly supported by Peter Falk displaying his often unrecognised talent for comedy, Barbara Rush and Victor Buono.
