I didn't hate this and I didn't love it. After Kelsey wrecks her car and almost dies when it plunges over a cliff, the incident brings attention to her family through a news report, and Kelsey learns some unpleasant truths about her parentage. Life is carefully organized for her from the regular cell phone contact she maintains with her mother to her outside activities such as tutoring other students.
TEEN FICTION After all, her own mother is so severely agoraphobic as the result of being kidnapped and abused as a teen that she hasn't left the house in 17 years. I recommend it strongly to all thriller fans out there, not only young girls. Kelsey has been hiding with her mother her entire life in the hills of Vermont. Love when that happens! This is a perfect book to read on a train.

I’m not going to tell you what happens but this whole scene sets the bad guys on Kelsey’s trail. That is when the true terror begins. The things Kelsey thought were true had a way of being revealed and even more unexpected mysteries and lies were unraveled. Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter is a black girl and an expert at navigating the two worlds she exists in: one at Garden Heights, her black neighborhood, and the other at Williamson Prep, her suburban, mostly white high school. This book was so so. fast read! A traffic accident puts the white teen in contact with classmate Ryan, a volunteer firefighter (and also white) who rescues her.

Questions remain about what happened in the moments leading to Khalil’s death, and the only witness is Starr, who must now decide what to say or do, if anything. I couldn't not love this precious book. Want to see more bookish things from me? Although the cover and the premise for this book were quite promising, it didn't deliver on all its promises for me. Khalil was unarmed. This book was the best of hers I’ve read. This is the third book by Megan Miranda that I’ve read ...and I’m seriously hooked!! The first night I managed to find a stopping point after about 100 pages. This story is necessary. One day when driving home from school late at night, she swerved to avoid an oncoming car and ended up dangling over a cliff. Holy shit what a book! I've enjoyed Megan Miranda's books before, especially, [ I thought that Kelsey's mom actually abducted her and made up the whole story about her own abduction, but not the case. Ryan, the guy from her trigonometry class, tries to calm her from the backseat.
My first intro to Megan Miranda was with All The Missing Girls and I loved that one and thought it was a great read.
TEEN FICTION Last night I decided “just one chapter” and 3 hours later I was finishing the book. ‧ I wouldn’t say it was the worst I’ve read but it definitely wasn’t this author’s best work. And I have loved all the books I have read by her, which is all of them but one, lol. I believe her only series is Fracture. TEEN SOCIAL THEMES, by

Terrified they would be taken again, her mom has kept Kelsey on a short leash. some of the thought processes were a little off the mark, but i believe that's because it's for a young reader. There's a problem loading this menu right now. This was INTENSE! May 24th 2016 As Kelsey got older, her social worker decided she needs to get out a bit and she began part time work and eventually transitioned into public school. Kelsey is stuck inside her house, with a friend, while dangerous men try to get inside. I always look forward to my next Megan Miranda book because I know I will be captivated, on the edge of my seat, and left without fingernails by the time the story is over. Kelsey was homeschooled most of her life without leaving their beautiful fortress, even receiving deliveries for food and household necessities. If Ryan seems a bit too good to be true, fans won’t mind. This is a story of Kelsey who has grown up with fear and survival instincts on account of being raised by her mother who was once held captive prior to escaping. Lara Jean prepares for college and a wedding. Walking the line between the two becomes immensely harder when Starr is present at the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend, Khalil, by a white police officer. A bit predictable, a bit slow, and overall just kind of ho-hum. Pretty predictable but great read all the same! This book was recently an Audible deal of the day that I decided to help myself to during a lull where most of my requests for audio books were on hold. This was a 3.5 star read for me. this literally made me realize how useless and stupid i would be if i was trapped in a house w no service and murderers trying to break in. Miranda writes some marvelously suspenseful scenes and keeps the story’s pace zooming along at a high clip during extensive action scenes. The book took a weird turn, and it wasn't quite what I was expected. Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of this one. © Copyright 2020 Kirkus Media LLC. I read this book in less than 5 hours! The book is a page-turner, indeed, but the criminals seemed sloppy at some points and cunning and brilliant at others. I’m so glad I gave it a chance, really quick thriller/mystery read probably not the best out there, but definitely got me off my reading break.
