Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. He will either grant us those desires, or He will give us new grace, as He did Paul, to handle the answer of no. Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? (1 John 1:3), And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. God wanted fellowship. Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble. It is the kind of faith that believes and trusts that God sees a bigger picture than we do.
You cover the Lord's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand. Our prayers being answered is entirely reliant upon those prayers being aligned with the will of God.
Present that to your governor; will he accept you or show you favor?
For your gods have become as many as your cities, O Judah, and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to shame, altars to make offerings to Baal. My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding, that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge. So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.
He didn’t do it for the Apostle Paul every time he prayed, and He is not going to do it for us either.
Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him? Well I have learnt that our God is a loving God who knows what is good for us.
Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. This only happens through time, and prayers of fellowship, not prayers of wishing for this or that. U When God sees this kind of faith in us, He still may not give us every request, but He will give us the power that He describes in Matthew 21.
The Hebrews were supposed to be different. Thanks immensely for scaling up my understanding when my prayer is not answered. And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.
Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
V And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears that they might not hear. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Sometimes hearing the answer no is our only door through to a new level of spirituality.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you. This is also different from the way many of us view prayer. If we have prayed for something, and God did not give it to us, or answer the prayer for us in the way we were hoping, then we must concede that the thing was not part of God’s will for us. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”.
God knew that Paul could learn a better lesson by not having the thorn removed.
We also often make the mistake of thinking that the only way God can answer our prayers is by giving us a positive response. Thank you for filling my mind and my heart with a better understanding of God’s thinking and reminding me of how much he cares for all of us. So, here is where people start getting frustrated with God.
There are things about our life that God may never choose to reveal to us. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. God sees the entire masterpiece that is our eternity. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil. Though they cry to me, I will not listen to them.
Does this mean God is going to give us everything we ask for? Cite this page: Editor: Stephen Smith.
Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.
And this second thing you do. No. They do not care about further down the road.
