It's been awhile since I've seen the 1930s movie version with Joel McCrea, but I think I like the story better by virtue of the lack of padding that was done to make it a feature film. It is probably most famous today due to the film starring Joel McCrea and Fay Wray, which was shot around the same time as King Kong and used many of the same sets. Connell's short story, while not having the feminine character or her brother, is equally atmospheric, and terribly exciting. To say that a piece of writing had been crafted and styled may well sound pretensious. All in all, the movie and short story were extremely similar and is my favorite short story due to its combine usage of suspense and diction, it kept my eyes glued to the words on the pages. That much of the story transferred onto the movie’s adaptation of “The Most Dangerous Game,” and the plot influences the readers and the watchers to feel suspense and to feel afraid for Rainsford, because of the diction used in short story it’s difficult not to feel as though you’re in Rainsford’s shoes traversing through the jungle as a madman is chasing after you. I loved the irony of the situation faced by the characters in this book: the hunters becoming hunted. In the short story, this was stated, “Splendid! 'My dear fellow'" …
