The Yo Yo Honey Singh wannabe sports a funky blue Mohawk. Should we let the heart take over the mind easily? But the endearing climax sequences make you overlook this flaw. Abhishek Bachchan gets a good space between Vicky and Rumi’s toxic love story and he does a perfect job with the space he has got in the film. Manmarziyaan Reviews . You know there is a problem when the stand-out memories from a film just hours after having watched it are the crackingly funny verbal duels between two supporting characters (both members of Robbie's household played by Neelu Kohli and Vikram Kochhar).
With no other shades to his character, Vicky Kaushal is restricted, but it is not a one-dimensional performance. Release Date: 14 Sep 2018 / Rated: U/A / 02hr 36min. He is an exception. And then they become exhausting. She does most of the talking in the house, but Mrs Bhatia is not your cliched 'Bollywood' over-the-top Punjabi woman.
That dream, too, never took off.
Firstpost - All Rights Reserved. Manmarziyaan Review: A Great Comeback by Abhishek Bachchan! Neelu Kohli plays Robbie's mother.
Irrespective of the commercial returns, Bachchan deserves nothing but praise for this mature performance.
Manmarziyaan emerges more as writer Kanika Dhillon’s film than director Anurag Kashyap's while Taapsee Pannu has an edge over Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal. What aids Abhishek Bachchan is the calm demeanour, maturity and sense of humour of Robbie.
I enjoyed the energy of the first 30 minutes or so of the film, the heat between Rumi and Vicky, the quick succession of songs, actor Vicky Kaushal's unrestrained dancing and Dhillon's hilarious, earthy dialogues made all the better by the excellent comic timing of the cast. Kashyap's new film - with a story, screenplay and dialogues by Kanika Dhillon - is about the tempestuous relationship between Rumi (Taapsee Pannu) and Vicky (Vicky Kaushal). Robbie may be a too-good-to-be-true character, but we all love to see Mr Nice Guy on screen. We also have an amusing character in Kakaji (Saurabh Shrivastav), the popular Amritsar matchmaker who has set a record 100 marriages.
The storytelling deserves a big thumbs down though.

The concept of the film is really good and will definitely touch your heart. At first it was interesting to see contemporary films examining the reluctance of India's urban youth to "settle down" in the conventional sense, until it became clear that when push came to shove, each of these filmmakers was on the side of convention. The plot is a familiar one, but Dhillon scores with her refreshing storytelling through a long and mostly gripping screenplay and fine dialogues. The story had romance, but it also possessed the trademark Kashyap edge and aggression.
The five films in Amazon Prime Video India's maiden Tamil anthology are not all equal, but they are different and thoughtful in interesting ways. We will come to the direction later, but it is only fair to label Manmarziyaan Dhillon’s film. Later it is shown that her youthful desires lead her to Vicky (Vicky Kaushal) and he completely fits with the excitement she wants at that particular moment. For its stomach-achingly comical conversations and the infectious verve of Amit Trivedi's music, Manmarziyaan gets a thumbs up. With Manmarziyaan set in Punjab however, composer Amit Trivedi and lyricist Shellee add to the film's authenticity by having mostly songs with Punjabi lyrics.
"), not just glossing over Lord Ram's decision to ditch his wife at the first whiff of gossip about her, but also somehow interpreting male goodness as a willingness to forgive a woman for repeatedly being an absolute jerk with you. Bachna Ae Haseeno, Love Aaj Kal, Break Ke Baad, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani - the list is long.
Though predictable, Dhillon’s refreshing storytelling drives Manmarziyaan.
It is based on a love story which is set in Punjab, India. They both have proved that they are the upcoming superstars and the new face of the film industry. She is a hockey player who helps in the family's small business in Amritsar, he is a deejay.
If it is pleasing to your ear, the keen listener will make the effort to understand the words. One moment you have her trying to instil sense into Vicky, and the next they are making passionate love.
The most amazing thing about this film is that it shows the most complicated things in a very easy manner without causing much chaos and confusion. Vinod Rawat gives us an unconventional film that exhibits the ways in which the mother and out... By submitting this form you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of Cinestaan.com. The man himself possesses these qualities in real life and so he slips into the character seamlessly. But it is never easy to forget your first love and Rumi’s past resurfaces to bring turmoil to the lives of the three protagonists. Manmarziyaan does not boast of any pathbreaking performances, but. Manmarziyaan is no different, but where it differs is in its refreshing storytelling. The love triangle makes this film really interesting and refreshing and you would surely love this old love triangle concept in this Anurag Kashyap film. A conventional love triangle is always locked in limited possibilities. With the songs largely in Punjabi, they may not have pan-India appeal. The stars have done a commendable job and portrayed the love in the truest and purest form.
The first half is lively. (Not surprisingly, Rai is a co-producer of this film.). This is a Kashyap film in body all right, but the soul is not necessarily Kashyap. It is out of rage that Rumi agrees to marry Robbie, but she does not have any emotional connection with him. We live in times where music has been reduced to a formality in most films. Manmarziyaan, thus, might be regarded as the director's first out-and-out romantic film. Each song plays out to the situation at hand beautifully. The ones that stand out are the intimate conversations between Rumi and Vicky and the scenes where Rumi’s growing affection for Robbie shines brightly on her face.
They are obsessed with each other and don’t miss any chance to get intimate. The script is very well written as it lingers for long at some scenes and will keep you totally engaged in it.
They both look really good as a couple in the film and received immense appreciation from the critics for their breathtaking performance.
