From your description, it sounds like you stayed in the Eco River Lodge, which has the salt water pool and outdoor hot tub located on the other side of the gate near our Chalet 1840. Breakfast is made to order, however, it was mediocre as everything seemed too overcooked (example: charred bacon, burnt sausage and burnt muffin for the eggs benedict with overly thick-pasty hollandaise sauce).They do have a good menu of home-made concoctions of the many variety of cocktails.All the staff at the hotel were very courteous and hospitable. Positives are the comfortable beds, the AC and the rustic decor in the room. Wakefield Mill has 24 acres of stunning land nestled in the Gatineau valley and they use as much of it as possible to host outdoor beautiful summer events, and they also have large interior event spaces for all business or leisure needs.

Built in 1838 by a Scottish immigrant, the Mill used the rushing water of the waterfalls to power the turbines that milled the wheat into flour. I am already planning my next trip for this resort next year. They are all equipped with a queen-size bed and full private bathroom. For main courses: they include for the vegetarian: Braised Tofu and lentils with Indian spice,then there is salmon tournedos and Duck confit among others. I would like to mention however that the onsite restaurant Muse is outstanding, so my personal recommendation would be to eat at this hotel but stay somewhere close by for less money. The Park and River Grand rooms are in both buildings and are on the river side. There three different catgory of rooms: "Heritage", which is somewhat contemporary, "Park", which is more rustic in style, and "River Grand" which is more up-scaled and located as its own separate complex next to a pool. This Mill when you first drive up to it frankly looks kind of drab, sorry but that weather-beaten barn wood look is dated, mind you once you park and walk around past the inn and actually cross the small bridge over the falls, you get to see the back of the Inn and understand why so many people like it there.
