Vice Envoy LEE Ji-hun dies from the strain of the march, and tension builds between LEE's bodyguard slave Yeosol and CHOI Jung. Pretty good eh! On the way they have to fight for her's and their own survival always against overwhelming odds but although losing the odd warrior now and again, most of them win through to fight on and on until the Princess is safe at her destination and the lone surviving warrior is on his way home to Korea.
They began the journey toward the faraway home country, where they met the Yuan troop again. If it were a soft drink, it would be an icy cold Dr. Pepper drunk while driving on a Texas highway in a muscle car while blasting AC/DC. This now completes my Zhang Ziyi collection, and was purchased at a very competive price. I have never seen a Korean movie before, so I decided to order the DVD with high expectations due to the good reviews of fellow Amazoners. Princess Furong also looks on from her wagon.

They hope then to return home, but it's a treacherous path that awaits them, full of inner and outer struggles for all of them, as they begin to question the rightness of their leader's decisions, and from their mutinous murmerings they increasingly turn to a sub leader from another tribe in Korea, as relations between all parties are strained by the constant need to sacrifice their comrades and their hopes of going home begin to dwindle. When they found out the Yuan troop kidnapped a Ming princess, they decided to rescue her so that they could get a ship to go home. Now they must choose. This movie is full of little gems like this.
And you know what, I wasn't dissappointed at all. CHOI Jung picks up a note from Buyong written in her blood that says 'Help', and he decides to rescue her so that they can get a boat bound for korea. The acting isn't bad, the action is pretty violent and bloody but the Princess, being a proper lady, gets through without so much as a scratch! Similar too to Magnificent 7 and 7 Samurai, as a Korean entourage attempt to return home amidst warring factions that includes wild Mongol soldiers, who are out to capture the Princess that the Koreans have chivalrously decided to protect to return to the Chinese Emperor.

The kidnapped Ming princess is obviously smittened by the spear wielding, ex slave, Yeosol and he in return is equally enamoured, but these asumptions are only culled from certain gestures, a word spoken here and there and yet their love for each other is so palpable. Great story, great action, great characters. Probably the Best War/ Romance Movie ever made… An Incredible Epic on Mongols, Korean Warriors, Chinese, Honor, Love and Sacrifice. While returning to their homeland Korea, they rescue Ming's princess Bu-yong. I saw this movie on Netflix and I had to own it.
