I was surprised how well the reality of it matched my memory of it. Cataract Lake is generally stocked with rainbow and brown trout, but you can also fish for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and channel catfish. Illegally introduced Largemouth Bass can also be found in this lake and anglers are encouraged to harvest bass to help the trout populations. Take your trash with you when you leave.

It is said to be among the most difficult to access in the region. Because of the difficult access, this lake is popular with float-tubers. There is no direct road access to the lake, the final .75 mi (1.21 km) segment being closed to vehicular access and requires a short hike. By one o'clock, we were on the water. This lake has a great population of wild browns. There is limited opportunity for shore fishing and wading especially due to low water, but there is a floating fishing pier that is handicapped accessible. Some lures to try are Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners and Rapalas for stocked rainbows and wild brown trout. Fishing for wild Apache Trout will be even better if you’re willing to hike upstream.
Woods Canyon Lake is stocked weekly throughout September with rainbow trout.

Water rights are owned by the irrigation company and the lake levels get extremely low during the summer. By then it was late afternoon, too late to do much exploring, but too early for dinner. Only now I had a solution without a paddle.
Fish for illegally stocked green sunfish along the rocky shore with nightcrawlers. However, those that do are rewarded with views of the most scenic trout lake in Arziona. Fly anglers using a float tube or kayak can find solitude at Bear Canyon Lake, especially on weekdays.
Vehicle requirements: A high-clearance vehicle is required. You will even be able to see the farthest thing possible to see with the naked eye, the Andromeda Galaxy, 2.3 millions light years away. Try small hooks with a worm and bobber near rocks and structure for sunfish. Green sunfish and smallmouth bass were illegally introduced to this lake. This is a Pack-it-in / Pack-it-out area. If you don’t mind hiking, the 3/4 mile hike to the lake is steep but well marked. The beach itself was actually quite niceand would have made a pretty good camp, but there was a chill wind so I decided to walk up canyon a bit into the ponderosa pines. Try a small hook with a worm under a bobber, even during the hotter parts of the day. This lake has a great population of wild browns. Fishing from a boat is generally more successful in the early fall than fishing from the shoreline, when the fish move into deep, cooler water.
