Sexual molestation of minors is definitely a grave topic and one that must be discussed openly but that doesn't mean you celebrate the idea of self-righteousness especially when related to the matters of justice.

The practice is shown beautifully. But Manda's grandmother Ajji cannot accept the injustice of it all.
A protracted late-night encounter between Dhavle and a female mannequin — essentially another assault — succinctly tells us all we need to know about Dhavle, his proprietary attitude towards women, and likely the kind of hideousness Manda was subjected to.

Direct and effective, Ajji finds the lurid line between child rape drama and genre revenge thriller and walks it steadily through to a satisfyingly gruesome conclusion. The movie touches on the delicate subject of child rape and that too from a under privileged family.
We had to fast forward through the movie. To my mind, true subversion would be getting the audience to feel some empathy for a child rapist. You can change your city from here.
Great Movie.

Theatre actor, writer, director Sushama Deshpande commands your unflinching attention from beginning to end with her unsaid words and raw emotions. Yet, Ajji is determined and with the help of a prostitute, Leela (Sadiya Siddiqui), she follows Dhavale around lonely alleys in her quest for vengeance. Ajji, as it stands now though, is well begun but just half done. But for all its flaws, this is a welcome break from the other sanitised rape-revenge dramas we’ve seen this year in the form of “Maatr” and “Mom”, and one that doesn’t flinch at the brutal nature of its subject.
The director probably thought that moving the camera painfully slowly and showing still faces will be a way to make a mark as a good director. It is a very dark movie, as dark as the truth of condition of women and kids in this country, as how every girl child and women is a potential victim in this country.
Riviting independent drama about an important subject.

In terms of world-view, though, there’s little that separates these films. Seeing as the cop pads his paycheck by covering up Dhavle’s crimes, he promptly browbeats, belittles and threatens the people looking for some respect: an old lady, an illegal migrant, an illegal worker, a prostitute and a little girl. I’m curious to know why Ajji, Devashish Makhija’s take on the rape-revenge drama, begins with the disclaimer: “We neither encourage nor condone taking the law into your hands."
It is his insistence on repeatedly hammering home his point that is the undoing of “Ajji”.
Everything works except for the enthusiastic plot for a film that is evidently the wheels of this crime drama. The contrast between Dhavale’s privilege and Manda and Ajji’s helplessness is always apparent in the film. It'll just take a moment. This is a film that’s frequently well-directed (the long scene where the officer interrogates the family, the false flashback, Ajji’s visits to the butcher shop) but has trouble reigning itself in (the distractingly weird choreography of the meeting between Dhavle and the cop, the excessiveness of Banerjee’s performance).
