The jaguar is magical stuff. I recorded myself in my room and played all the instruments on it. The rest is pictures I have taken.

Ad Choices. I’m especially lucky being in a band that get to do this and make a living off of it. How was that tour? I assume they must have ulterior motives.

Pitchfork: Where does all of that energy refocus itself? BC: Well, there was a certain Pitchfork article that made me so mad.

Some things just sound better kind of dirty.

That was Lockett Pundt.” He is loath to go into details about the incident, but admits that it was a definite turning point. I used white out and printer toner ink for the writing on everything.

L: I did all of the artwork and typography for it except the cover which is an old family picture of my youngest brother Matt. Well, he passed her first. Mixing on pretty much everything we have recorded thus far has been a collaborative effort. This was probably a year or so before Cryptograms came out. When Cox remembers that he needs to pick up a pile of mail, we pay a surprise visit to his 71-year-old father, James, who admits to being both deeply proud of and perhaps a little surprised by his son’s success; Before leaving, Cox swaps out his dad’s old turntable for a new one, and the two hilariously squabble over whether James was or wasn’t an album-buying fan of, Having interviewed Cox several times over the years, I have some sense of what to expect from him. If Fading Frontier is proof of anything, it’s that even the most tightly-wound personalities eventually need to mellow out and settle the fuck down. LP: That was our first tour of England, really. Change ).

You are charismatic and funny, but it’s easy for people to make you seem like an insane person. Remember when we were young and there was this excitement about what was going to happen next? A lot of people complain about that side effect, but I love it. I don’t want to die with a bunch of people looking at me.”, Wading through swampy Atlanta traffic en route to, On previous albums, Cox’s lyrics were often cleverly obtuse; evocative bits of wordplay that generally hinted at his mental and emotional states without ever giving away too much. I had no idea what to expect going into that. I don’t have a copy of any of the albums. BC: It erased all illusions for me. My songs might start a certain way, but it’s what everyone else brings that makes them what they are. But I lost that manic urge that I used as fuel with, BC: That’s so funny, I don’t feel that way, One of my favorite songs on the album, for example, is “Take Care”. I didn’t want to do the same thing again… I just wanted the songs not to be hidden. A lot of bands wanna do something new all the time and never repeat themselves, but I’m not so interested in that.

What do you get out of the noise and cacophony that comes out of playing with your Lotus Plaza band and Deerhunter? That’s the album I think about the least. Would you consider signing to one of them, if offered?

Kranky expressed some interest and came to one of our shows in St. Louis, where we played this small arts space. I’ve done that quite a lot. A few other things I've written, along with mp3s, videos and whatnot will show up here as well.

I don’t care about notoriety. I love XTC and this is just as good.

I was trying to say something. Otherwise I get lazy. The dog came along right around the same time and really changed how I felt about loneliness; I've never felt lonely since I've gotten a dog.

I said to myself, “This guy is a fucking asshole.” But afterwards, I realized that he just did his job.

LP: Microcastle was a lot easier from the beginning. LP: No, not at all. Pitchfork: I don’t think most people understand the seriousness of your car accident last year. He releases solo material under the name Lotus Plaza. His debut album as Lotus Plaza, The Floodlight Collective, was released March 23, 2009 on CD and vinyl. Definitely some of the bands that we can all agree on. I don’t feel insecure about anything.

Having interviewed Cox several times over the years, I have some sense of what to expect from him. BC: It’s reaching a new level of stability. I buy books and start them but never really finish them. Η δεκαετία σιγά-σιγά φτάνει προς το τέλος της κι έχουν αρχίσει ήδη να κυκλοφορούν οι λίστες με τα καλύτερα των 10s.
